Eight Gigs: A Tribe Called Red

Sat., Nov. 7, 3 p.m., Sol Collective, $25

First of all, do not wear a headdress or war paint to this show. A Tribe Called Red is not a fan of cultural appropriation. The band is perhaps as well known for its activism as its unique dance music, mixing traditional pow wow vocal chanting and drumming with dubstep. Throw in a little hip-hop, reggae and thumping bass, and you've got a wild, Tribe-certified dance party. Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, the three-deejay crew headlines Sol X, the 10-year anniversary party for Sol Collective. World Hood, SETI X, Tel Cairo and other artists will perform as well, alongside a full day of community art workshops. 2574 21st Street, http://atribecalledred.com.
