Bee mine, honey

In the mid-1990s, colonies of honey bees started mysteriously collapsing around the world. Since then, lots of conservation efforts and awareness campaigns have launched to #SaveTheBees. Locally, Bee Love Sacramento aims to create healthy, sustainable bee colonies by promoting urban beekeeping. The group is throwing its first annual honey tasting fundraiser on Tuesday, July 19, at Mulvaney’s B&L (1215 19th Street). From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., sample the sweet nectar from Bee Love’s various urban hives in East Sacramento, Arden, Midtown, south Sacramento, Elk Grove and the host restaurant’s rooftop beehive. Mulvaney’s will provide appetizers that pair well with honey, and you can buy drinks from the bar. Advance tickets cost $44 online, or you can gamble on paying $40 at the door without Evenbrite’s fees.
