Law enforcement is watching us all the time, or at least more often.
The Sacramento Police Department is the latest local agency to partner with Amazon’s Ring to obtain footage from the video doorbells. Meanwhile, police face few limits in using unmanned drones for surveillance.
Also in the news, three new Sacramento City Council members took office this week, including one who just lost a slander suit and is under investigation by federal labor officials. They and the rest of the council will continue wrestling with issues including police reform. A citizens advisory panel says a new civilian office to respond to 911 calls involving the mentally ill will only work if community groups get more money.
