Issue: July 12, 2012
This week marks the official debut of SN&R's two co-editors Nick Miller and Rachel Leibrock. And because Nick wanted to kick things off with a bang, he's also the guy behind this week's cover story--a profile on Carmichael Dave, the controversial radio host who recently got axed from his job at KHTK. Is Dave's attempt to save the Sacramento Kings through his grassroots "Here We Stay" campaign behind the firing?
This week also marks the debut of SN&R's new food critic, Becky Grunewald , who parses the nuances of Thai and Laotion dishes at Asian Cafe. Becky is well-known as a Sacramento-area foodie: She was critic for the now-defunct Midtown Monthly for six years.
Becky's all over the issue, actually; in the arts section she interviews pop artist Patrick Phipps about his current exhibition at California Center for the Arts, Sacramento as well as the local, ongoing branch of his freewheeling Sketch Klubb that makes its debut this month. Also in the arts section: Kate Paloy's trip to Gilligan's Island and a roundup of local artists' favorite summertime jams.
