Issue: December 16, 2010
Hello SN&R reader!
Five years ago, a local couple bought their piece of the American Dream, a two-bedroom home in Sacramento's Hollywood Park. But then came the recession and a pair of lay-offs; eventually, the couple found new, but lower paying, jobs. When a government program – HAMP – offered to help them "modify" their mortgage, they were told they were ideal candidates. But maybe not ... Don’t miss Rachel Leibrock’s nightmare mortgage tale in this week's SN&R plus find stories on the boom in for-profit colleges, the word on Schwarzenegger's green legacy, and the cool on music-scene everyman Michael Leahy.
Cheers,
SN&R staff
