Zoolander

While this male model comedy is not all bad, it does represent a disappointing turn in the career of Ben Stiller, who writes, directs and stars. He plays Derek Zoolander, the world’s second-greatest male model, according to VH-1 (the title being currently held by Hansel, played by the always funny Owen Wilson). Derek is duped into a plot to assassinate the prime minister of Malaysia by evil fashion magnate Mugatu (Will Ferrell, my current favorite weirdo), and any laughs that this film garners are mostly not due to the Zoolander character. The film’s high point is a male model gasoline fight with dire consequences, but that’s about it for big chuckles. Zoolander manages some amusing bits but is unfunny as a whole.
