Zombies, behind the scenes
Some fans show appreciation for their obsession by buying memorabilia or collecting autographs. Joe Kane took zombie fanboy-dom to another level by writing Night of the Living Dead: Behind the Scenes of the Most Terrifying Zombie Movie Ever about—well, what else? Kane chronicles the birth of the modern zombie movie. It starts from the very beginning, with the creation of George Romero’s infamous film, and goes up to the latest zombie movie, coincidentally, also directed by Romero. While Kane’s book acts as an all-encompassing reference guide to the zombie genre, it’s much more. It’s the story of a group of filmmaking unknowns who ended up making a movie that forever changes the horror genre. Kane follows the crew as they overcome obstacles, find unexpected success, and later deal with the failures and fallout that follows them. It’s a valuable almanac that should belong in any self-respecting deadhead’s collection.
