WTF, it’s NYE
Those morons who woke up today and realized “Shit, it’s New Year’s Eve and I don’t know where to party my ass off” are in luck because, honestly, I’ve been there before. So instead of scouring venue Web sites and getting disheartened when every show has a “sold out” icon displayed next to it, check out these last-minute soirees that don’t require advance tickets.
Indie-rock group the Inversions will perform with Pushtonawanda and Richard March at 8 p.m. at Fox & Goose, 1001 R Street. This show is less of a dance-the-night-away party and more of a chill, awesome way to ring in the New Year—and it is totally free.
Deejays Shaun Slaughter and the GVNR will hit you with their best shots: mixes of the year’s best music, including MGMT, Animal Collective, Chromeo and more at 9 p.m. at The Press Club, 2030 P Street. If you would have been on top of your game, you could have gotten in for $5. Since you’re a slacker, the cover is $8 at the door, but completely worth it.
Check out Kill the Precedent, the CUF and M.D.L. at The Distillery, 2701 L Street. Hip-hop, industrial punk and thrash punk will converge to offer a night of randomness. Show starts at 10 p.m. with an $8 cover.
