Worldly woman

Shannon Ledford has captured images of people all around the globe: Africa, India, Laos and Guatemala. In her upcoming exhibition, She Lives …, Ledford sought to document women who don’t simply amble through life, but those who live. From the wrinkled face of a woman in a Kalimpong, India, market (pictured on cover) to the happy little girl of nomadic cattle herders in Namibia, every image is accompanied by individual stories of the subjects. The narratives and the colorful images show women separated by culture and economic status, but connected by life experiences. The exhibition will continue through Wednesday, January 6, with an opening reception Friday, December 11, from 6 to 9 p.m., at International House, 10 College Park in Davis. Regular gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
