Women at war
Wilkerson Theatre (formerly The California Stage)
1723 25th St.Sacramento, CA 95816
Not all our country’s veterans are men. Women have served proudly and well—and have suffered the same consequences as male soldiers—since World War II (and before, but not always with government approval). California Stage hosts two performances this week of a national touring play about women service members from Vietnam to Iraq, Coming in Hot. Based on the anthology Powder: Writing by Women in the Ranks, From Vietnam to Iraq, the play was written by Jeanmarie Simpson, who also acts. It will be performed on Sunday, October 17, at the Wilkerson Theatre in the California Stage complex at 25th and R streets, at 4 and 7 p.m. The performances are 70 minutes long, and will be followed by a discussion. Tickets are $20; make required reservations by calling (916) 451-5822.
