Without reservations
Watching Matt K. Miller in Fully Committed is catching a quality craftsman at his best. This whirlwind 90-minute one-man performance gives Miller an opportunity to pull out all his acting chops with 40 different characters, many with distinct accents, including French, Italian, British, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Midwest and Upper East Side. Miller also is in constant motion, running at breakneck speed, while portraying an aspiring actor who works the reservation phone at a much-in-demand multistar Manhattan restaurant. He is juggling the phone, the kitchen-dining room intercom and the red phone to the chef, while performing all roles in every conversation, including other staff, demanding customers and even his father. The story line isn’t much, but that’s not what makes this so entertaining—it’s Miller’s manic magic.
