With a Friend Like Harry

With just a blank stare, Sergi Lopez makes an absolutely creepy entrance as the title character of this sly French thriller and then proceeds to become one of recent memory’s most unforgettable personifications of deranged obsession. As the independently wealthy Harry, he crosses paths in a roadside restroom with a former college classmate (Laurent Lucas) who is traveling to his country home with his wife (Mathilde Seigner) and three young girls. The man barely remembers Harry, but Harry has harbored an odd infatuation with his long-lost chum, worms his way into his life with his girlfriend (Sophie Guillemin) in tow and begins a crusade to upgrade his pal’s happiness and rekindle his literary passion.
