White Noise
Former Batman Michael Keaton listens to dead people. He plays architect Jonathan Rivers, whose life is shattered by the mysterious disappearance and death of his wife, Anna (Chandra West). Later, he is contacted by a stranger (Ian McNeice) who claims to be receiving messages from Anna via electronic voice phenomena, a medium in which the dead communicate with the living though household recording devices and televisions. Jonathan’s investigation into the messages introduces him to a growing paranormal subculture and opens the portal to a netherworld from which something evil this way comes without much nerve-jangling fanfare (most of the screams came from the soundtrack rather than the audience) or conviction (portal schmortal). Directed by TV veteran Geoffrey Sax.
