What’s kind hair?

Celebrate the beauty, the splendor, the wonder of hair.

Celebrate the beauty, the splendor, the wonder of hair.

When I was younger, my father sat me down and said, “My darling, you have kind hair.” Perplexed, I asked, “Daddy, what’s kind hair?” Grinning from ear to ear, he retorted, “The kind that grows on a dog’s butt.” My point is that no matter what “kind” of hair you have, you’re invited to celebrate it at the Sacramento Locks Festival. The festival kicks off Friday evening at 7 p.m. with a reggae dance party, but the bulk of the activities will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stop by and check out the selection of natural hair products, participate in the group discussion on “The Politics of Hair” or bring a poem to share at the Hair It Is open-mic. Admission is $5 on Friday and $10 on Saturday, but children 12 and younger get in free both days. Let your hair loose at the Sacramento Ballet Building at 1631 K Street. Call (916) 452-1290 for more information.
