Top 40, essential pop, hip-hop, house—this is what DJ Gabe Xavier will play at his new residency, Mix Wednesdays. Or, at least, this is what was on the flier. I gotta admit, though, I had no idea what any of these dance genres were about. So, I visited Xavier’s MySpace and gave his player a spin. The verdict? Sounds like the opening-credits music from ’80s comedies mashed with some guy with an overbite playing funk guitar mashed with Justin Timberlake’s squaring away Tiffany cuff links mashed with Reason hand claps. I like. Or maybe that’s just the $4 bubbly drinks at Mix? 1531 L Street.
