Lower Dens key member Jana Hunter has collaborated with CocoRosie and Phosphorescent, and released a split with Devendra Banhart as well as two full-length solo albums in her career. Her newest project, however, is a relatively dramatic change from the more folksy guitar-picking awesomeness she has put out in the past. It drives more toward a Beach House-esque psychedelic indie sound, while her soft and sweet vocals continue to steal the spotlight. The group has received great reviews from NPR Music and Pitchfork, and is coming through Sacramento while on tour with Inoculist, a band featuring Hunter’s brother. 1050 20th Street, www.myspace.com/lowerdens.
