Wed, Oct 20, The Derailers
The Palms Playhouse, 8 p.m., $20
The Derailers have been making music for 16 years, but the Austin-based band’s sound encompasses more than 50 years’ worth of country, rockabilly, folk and rock ’n’ roll. Channeling the likes of Buck Owens, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and Charlie Rich, this honky-tonk quartet manages to craft songs that are at once timeless and modern. The Derailers’ latest release, Live! From Texas, due in stores October 26, culls some of the best cuts of their nine studio albums, including “Just to Spend the Night With You,” “Cold Beer, Hot Women and Cool Country Music” and “California Angel.” 13 Main Street in Winters, www.derailers.com.
