Wed, Oct 13, Unearth
The Boardwalk, 7 p.m., $15-$18
I’ve been to an Unearth show before. Their album The Oncoming Storm had just released and the band stopped by The Glass House in Pomona. I was kicked in the face and constantly dodged young men diving off the stage and others doing windmills into the crowd. But despite the minor injuries, Unearth puts on a memorable show. Their music is aggressive, unmistakably metal. And their lyrics tackle political issues, especially war. Plus, guitarist Ken Susi entertains, shooting winks at young women, not to mention the slightly humorous, slightly offensive messages he writes on the back of his guitars. 9426 Greenback Lane in Orangevale, www.unearth.tv.
