Wed, June 29, The Alps
Luigi’s Slice and Fun Garden, 8 p.m., $5-$7
From New South Wales, Australia, Chris Hearn got his start in music during his early 20s. Hearn gave up his house, grew a beard and set out to spread the message of independent music. With a drum machine, reverb vocals and clean guitar riffs, Hearn combines folk and psych with aspects of shoegaze and drone. While his project, the Alps, has matured and he’s shaved the messiahlike beard, he still stands by his morals, making music without the help of a major label. The Alps are currently touring the world for the fifth time, making stops in Europe, New Zealand and even Sacramento. 1050 20th Street, www.facebook.com/
