Wanna Mysore masala?
What a nice surprise to see that Kaveri Madras Cuisine (1148 Fulton Avenue) has added Mysore masala dosas to its menu. It’s the advanced version of the nearly 2-foot-long fermented rice-and-lentil crepe, a South Indian staple. Just like the intermediate masala dosa, with its potato, onion and tumeric filling, the Mysore masala goes one step further: a spicy (but not hot) chutney is spread on the inside of the roll. It’s accompanied by sambar (lentil and vegetable soup) and coconut, tomato and mint chutneys. This protein-rich meal is filling, yet not heavy, and certainly won’t leave one in want of more flavor.
