Look at All the Love We Found: A Tribute to Sublime

Sublime’s all-too-brief tenure left a huge imprint on California music. So it’s fitting that on this tribute one can hear some true California giants, who were on the map long before this trio began, showing great appreciation for its songs. Beyond Camper Van Beethoven’s ethereal “Garden Grove,” there’s Fishbone veering wildly through “Date Rape,” Los Lobos getting down to the “Pawn Shop,” and Ozomatli grooving back to “April 29th, 1992.” Meanwhile, Michael Franti and Gift of Gab from Blackalicious make “What I Got” a hip-hop celebration, Jack Johnson positively swims through “Badfish/Boss DJ,” and G. Love funks up “Greatest Hits.” It also helps to include groups that came up with Sublime, like Bargain Music, the Ziggens and, of course, Sacramento’s own Filibuster, teaming up with Half Pint for a rousing version of “Get Ready.”
