Yeah, so it’s Christmas, or maybe even a day or two after. People go out shopping for deals on next year’s wrapping paper all the time, so why not pick up this collection of a dozen very recognizable Christmas recordings—each of which has been altered by various remix artists—while you’re at it? Now, some might consider messing with yuletide perfection a sacrilege. But if American history can be remixed by neoconservatives, then the canon of holiday chestnuts ought to be fair game for today’s sonic remodeling specialists, right? There’s no real major surgery here, anyway; most tracks—by such names as Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Mel Tormé, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong and others—are recognizable, but their chassis and drive trains have been souped up rhythmically. Not bad.
