Unhappy endings

A collaboration between Sacramento writer Beni Herevia and Southern California artist Nate Richardson, The Final Lonely Chapter of Sadboy graphic novel isn’t out yet, but you can get a sneak preview at Herevia’s website. Sadboy follows the title character’s quest for love—an optimistic journey fraught with emotional treachery. “He hasn’t had much luck,” Herevia writes. “He begins to dream about life beyond the horizon, even though he knows it may kill him.” Anchored by Richardson’s spare, black-and-white illustrations, Herevia’s story is rooted in Sacramento and imbued with a melancholy style that turns Sadboy’s sad quest into nothing short of poetry. http://benitumblr.tumblr.com.
