Unfriended
A teenager (Heather Sossaman) is driven to suicide by a humiliating online video; on the anniversary of her death, a group of her supposed friends (Shelley Hennig, Moses Jacob Storm, Will Peltz, Renee Olstead, Jacob Wysocki, Courtney Halverson) are first stalked, then terrorized, by someone—or something!—using the dead girl's Facebook account. Writer Nelson Greaves and director Leo Gabriadze offer a clever twist on the tired found-video idea: the entire movie takes place on a laptop screen as the video-chatting friends become increasingly unhinged. Viewers may not notice that the sometimes-strained premise is bolstered by excellent performances, especially from Hennig as the laptop's owner. But they'll probably notice that the movie doesn't always make sense and isn't terribly scary or suspenseful. J.L.
