Under the hill

Some things don’t need aging to get better. For example: Elliott Fouts Gallery’s August show 40 & Under. The East Sacramento gallery is currently showcasing the works of several artists under the age of 40. Participating artists include Christopher Stott, Bryan Mark Taylor, Derek Gores, Paul Ferney, Jesse Mangerson, Abbey Ryan, Erin Westenkow Berrett and Michael Naples. The invitational show features a variety of art styles, such as intricate still lifes, mixed-media collages of high-heeled shoes, landscapes and even several oil paintings of Volkswagen Beetles. Do images of V.W. Bugs count in a game of slug bug? I say yes. But you’ll need to check it out before the exhibition closes on September 3.
