If you’re looking for some decent deep-sea thrills, then this one delivers, but that’s all it delivers. Matthew McConaughey helps save the free world, and his career, as an American WWII submarine captain on a mission to steal the Enigma, a super-jacked typewriter the Nazis use to send coded messages. History tells us that the mission depicted in the movie didn’t really happen, but that doesn’t keep the film from being fun. Supporting cast includes Harvey Keitel and Jon Bon Jovi, who thankfully leaves his guitar in his bunk and concentrates on the acting. Good, vapid action.
