Two thousand three?
Remember when we all had millennium fever and Y2K paranoia? When you had to think before writing ’00 on your checks? It’s hard to believe three years have passed since then. Is it just me, or does this century seem to be progressing with more speed than the last one did? If time is ticking, ticking, ticking into the future at a faster rate, that’s all the more reason to pause for a holiday that celebrates its passing.
So, how will you ring in the new year? Those looking for a free but festive celebration should head to the Old Sacramento waterfront for a free concert, complete with fireworks shows over the Tower Bridge at 10 p.m. and at midnight. For a thoughtful New Year’s experience, visit Trinity Cathedral’s labyrinth for a walking meditation on your New Year’s resolutions. Members of the community are invited to drop by from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m. at 2620 Capitol Avenue. Call 452-0483 for more information. Of course, there are numerous parties about town complete with big bands, balloon drops and a lot of people to kiss at midnight. Check out your options in the Night&day listings to the right and have a wonderful new year!
