Turkey-coma frontload
Come Thanksgiving, by nightfall many of us will be snoozing off a big bird-induced tryptophan buzz in the family La-Z-Boy, with football droning from a nearby TV. But the night before (Wednesday, November 24) offers something more active, and outright, uh, rocking: three bands in a row, no slouches in the bunch. First up will be the Kelps, a young band whose blues-meets-adolescence nervous energy recalls early Yardbirds one night, and vintage Kinks the next. Lite Brite (pictured), a stellar power trio with the cojones to evoke the loudness-meets-pop smarts of the Who, will follow. And finishing the evening will be Darksun Skypilot, the latest amplified expression of Mike Farrell, perhaps the closest thing to a genuine rock star this town has produced. It’s at Old Ironsides, 1901 10th Street. Show starts at 9:30 p.m., $6, 21 and over only. Butane lighter optional.
