Tues, Aug 16, Sole and the Skyrider Band
Sol Collective, 9 p.m., $10
Much like Lupe Fiasco, Tim “Sole” Holland makes hip-hop for anarchists. But while Lupe chases a mainstream audience with weak-sauce pop like “The Show Goes On,” Sole stretches his audience with “Hello Cruel World,” and joins forces with the likes of swag absurdist Lil B and experimental rock group Xiu Xiu. It’s more challenging, sure, but ultimately better than screaming at the TV while Lupe argues with Bill O’Reilly over President Obama’s so-called “terrorist” policies. Forget about the Republicrats for a night; revolution starts at home. Aquifer and Deadeye open, and DJs Riff Raff and Admant hold down the decks. This event is all ages. 2574 21st Street, www.facebook.com/
