Members of Model A, giving the people what they want.
Ford’s Model A, a mass-produced automobile, may be a bit long in the tooth, but Sacramento’s Model A, a band, is anything but. Instead of hydrocarbons, this Model A generates a maelstrom of sonic information—think Radiohead with much sharper teeth—over which the melodic, Jon Anderson-like falsetto of Brandon Schilling soars, as evidenced on the band’s recent six-song CD, Transmission Lost. You can catch Model A live, with the Proles, another fine local band, and Zero2Heaven (which we haven’t heard), at the Blue Lamp, 1400 Alhambra Boulevard, at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 26. The cover is $6. And for those of you on more of an ’80s tip, KMFDM—colloquially known as “kill mutha-fricking Depeche Mode” back in the day—will play the Empire, 1417 R Street, on Thursday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. Also on the all-ages bill is Black:Japan; $15 will get you in.
