An overhead view of a junkyard pile, papers blowing in the wind, empty roads, trash explosions—Northern California artist Chester Arnold’s detailed landscapes feature affected natural landscapes riddled with human garbage and presence. The Conundrum of Abundance, his show at the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento, explores the impact of consumerism, from purchase to use to disposal, and society’s resulting topography—and the wasteful psyche. (Arnold will show with Scott Greene and Julie Heffernan.)
