Thurs, Sept 8, Iris DeMent
Center for Spiritual Awareness, 7:30 p.m., $27.50-$30
Country/folk singer Iris DeMent’s voice has made people cry. In an interview with Music Matters Review, she said, “When I see people crying or they tell me that they did, I take that as a compliment, and it makes me feel good. It means my music is helping them, and it’s doing something for what’s inside of them.” DeMent’s lyrics are poetic, but it’s her voice, clear and pretty, that can wring tears from the hardest of hearts. DeMent doesn’t tour often, and she hasn’t released an album of originals since 1996, but she’ll be in West Sac on Thursday. Bring some Kleenex. 1275 Starboard Drive in West Sacramento, www.irisdement.com.
