Thurs, Sept 17, Henry Rollins
University Union Ballroom, 7:30 p.m., no cover
OK, while technically not a concert, Henry Rollins puts on a solid show wherever he goes—and whenever he damn well pleases. Do you seriously need me to explain who Rollins is? If you were born yesterday, under a boulder or to yuppies that didn’t appreciate the good things in life, like Black Flag and civil disobedience, Rollins is an accomplished spoken-word artist and free-speech activist, not to mention one of the more prominent American musicians of our time. This is a rare chance to catch him performing his lecture series in Sacramento (and for free), so what have you got to lose? Oh yeah: my respect, you sissy. 6000 J Street, www.21361.com.
