The Islands/Jemina Pearl tour should be called the “ex” tour. Islands frontman Nick Diamonds reportedly hates that critics constantly associate Islands with his and drummer Jamie Thompson’s defunct group, the Unicorns. Jemina Pearl is still having trouble discussing the details of the breakup of former band Be Your Own Pet. Yet in some respects both Islands and Pearl have much to be proud of; Islands’ third album, Vapours, released September 22, is receiving solid reviews, and Pearl’s solo debut, Break It Up, released October 6 on Universal/Ecstatic Peace Records, includes a duet with Iggy Pop.
