When Seattle’s Band of Horses released its debut 2006 album Everything All the Time, the sound was equal parts backwoods opera and carefully studied college rock. In 2007, Cease to Begin followed the same musical pattern of intense, dramatic vocals and gothic narratives. The band’s latest album, Infinite Arms, however, takes a lighter, sunnier approach with songs that feel California-born, as though they were crafted seaside in Big Sur or Monterey.
