Thurs, March 24, Chiodos
Ace of Spades, 5 p.m., $22
Chiodos will forever be that crazy band of Michigan boys touring through Bakersfield in a short, yellow school bus. Always a highlight in the mundane music circuit of my small hometown, Chiodos’ post-hardcore style—with former frontman Craig Owens’ piercing yet melodic vocals—created a balance of soft moments with edge. Back then, the band called themselves the Chiodos Bros., in tribute to Edward, Stephen and Charles Chiodo, known for their film Killer Klowns From Outer Space. Now, with former Yesterdays Rising vocalist Brandon Bolmer replacing Owens, Chiodos expands its formula. 1417 R Street, www.chiodos.net.
