The story of Oakland-based dark-rock solo project Agness Twin’s name apparently began in Tehran, Iran, in 1944, when twins Alice and Agness were born. Agness passed away at the age of 2 due to hives, but her memory lives on through Alice’s daughter, Elisa or Lady E, and her music. Her style is reminiscent of pre-Cobain-era Hole and most certainly PJ Harvey. In 2007, Lady E worked with David J of the original Goth group Bauhaus on the album A Light Awake Inside. If all of this doesn’t warrant a listen, her custom, double-necked electric 12-string and six-string guitar should get some attention, which gives her a very imaginative and unique sound. 1111 H Street, www.myspace.com/agnesstwin.
