They’re Playing Our Song

The conundrum: This thoroughly dated rom-com musical from Carole Bayer Sager and Marvin Hamlisch, with book by Neil Simon, isn’t campy enough to be nostalgic, but it’s old enough to be stale. Great singing and acting from Nanci Zoppi (Sonia) and Jerry Lee (Vernon), as well as their supporting cast, does wonders, but still isn’t enough to offset the problematic confection of the play itself.
