The Yes Men

MGM

Riding the wave of irreverent indie documentaries, The Yes Men comes along—with funding from none other than Herb Alpert of the Tijuana Brass—to lampoon the world of global trade. Andy and Mike are talented pranksters, committed to their mission of impersonating representatives from the World Trade Organization. They fly around the world staging outrageous presentations intended to inspire shock. What they find is a different story: The suits don’t get the joke. This DVD release is short on special features, and the film itself is short too; it seems the Yes Men might have benefited from a few more stunts to flesh out their movie. Still, it manages to be both thought-provoking and funny. Where else can you find a serious critique of globalization alongside a gold suit with an inflatable phallus to “help keep track of workers”?
