The Walworth Farce
This play’s opening suggests we’re in for an Irish version of The Three Stooges, as three characters joylessly rehearse their routine. But there’s a whiff of discomfort, and what initially appears to be a comedy (which isn’t quite making sense) is gradually revealed as a most sinister tale. We’d best not disclose more; playwright Enda Walsh and director Buck Busfield set things up carefully, and you’ll get the big—disturbing—picture soon enough. Strong performances from Greg Alexander, John Lamb, Jason Kuykendall and newcomer Kimberly Lowe. While not a “Halloween play,” this is the most chilling show in town. T, W 7pm; Th 2pm & 7pm; F 8pm; Su 1pm. Through 11/12. $18-$30. The B Street Theatre, 2711 B St.; (916) 443-5300; www.bstreettheatre.org.
