The social (hilarity) network
Yeah, yeah, Facebook has 500 trillion users and is the most effective cat-picture distribution system of all time, not to mention its incredible usefulness as a way to annoy your friends and avoid work. But did you know it can be used for comedy (and we’re not talking about just making fun of lame status updates, either)? OK, so if you’re friends with Josh Fernandez, you’re already getting more than your quota of Facebook laughs. But if you’re not one of the lucky ones, try Sacramento Comedy Spot’s In Your Facebook show. They call up a lucky—you might say—audience member, pull up that person’s Facebook page, go through pics, wall posts and friends, then use all that social-network dish to improvise comedy scenes. You know it’s going to be a hoot—and it’s really cheap, and Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t get the money. What more do you want? Go, or we’ll tell your mother how to friend you.
In Your Facebook, 8 p.m. Friday, January 7; doors open at 7:50 p.m. $5-$8. Sacramento Comedy Spot, 1050 20th Street; (916) 444-3137; http://saccomedyspot.com. Reservations suggested. Followed by Stand Up Shoot Out, 9 p.m.; $10.
