As the Sacramento Film and Music Festival enters its seventh year, local filmmakers, film buffs and musicians are gearing up for the creative outlet that the event provides. The festival, which runs August 2-6 at the Crest, runs short and feature-length independent and experimental films from around the world, as well as live music acts and Sac Music Seen, which pairs local bands and filmmakers to create original music videos. This year will feature Student Days, spotlighting works by students from all over California. The closing-night screening of films from the 10x10 Filmmaker Challenge is a “don’t miss” event: Filmmakers were given a theme and only 10 days to complete a 10-minute film. For a full schedule and film synopses, visit the festival’s Web site at www.sacfilm.com.
