The Proles

Mix a smattering of 10cc with a dash of the Kinks, a pinch of the Beatles and a dollop of Nirvana and sprinkle the top with T. Rex, and the result would resemble the Proles. All those influences can be heard in the Proles’ music, which deftly references those bands in a very subtle way. The music on this near-perfect debut disc mixes elements of pop and rock and is colored with splashes of psychedelia and progressive rock. And though the Proles have been compared to Low Flying Owls, and the two bands share some common musical ground, the Proles have a more decided rock and pop edge to their sound. Make no mistake, however: The Proles rock these songs live. Buzz band? Yes. However, as the CD shows, the band has earned it.
