Charles Cunningham’s landscapes look familiar. The self-described “essentially self-taught” painter’s scenes are from vistas he says he encountered in California and Nevada, and he often breaks the view up into thirds for his canvases, with blocks of vibrant hues in the foreground, midground and background, and often hilly or mountainous details marking the horizon. Check out the view at Artspace1616 this month until August 28.
