The only good rock star …

Rock music may promise immortality, but it’s common knowledge that rock stars do shuffle off this mortal coil. Although many of them depart via mundane means—car crashes, heroin overdoses and the old “natural causes”—a few of them make more stellar exits, such as Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC’s Bon Scott and Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham (all of whom choked on vomit) and INXS’ Michael Hutchence, who died in the throes of “autoerotic asphyxiation.” All of those acts’ music, and more, will be fodder for this year’s annual Halloween “Dead Rockstars” show at Old Ironsides. On the bill are the Knockoffs, Go National, Weird Harold, Milwaukee, Ro Sham Bo, Simon Feck, Pocket Change, the Lookyloos, Carquinez Straits, Warren Bishop & the Holy Men and Tony Schatz (ex-Birthday). Eric Bianchi hosts. The benefit show starts at 8 p.m., the cover is $8, and the address is 1901 10th Street.
