Dark Is The Path Which Lies Before Us
At the end of January, relatively local indie rockers the New Trust inconspicuously released an exceptional full-length CD (and 7-inch vinyl collection with bonus track) onto the unsuspecting masses. But don’t blame yourself for not realizing this potent batch of songs was available for your money-spending pleasure. The North Bay band got some well-deserved attention way back in 2003 for the release of their debut EP, complete with positive press and international touring and whatnot. Then, for a few years, not much happened. But with time comes confident songwriting, apparently. Dark Is The Path amounts to 13 solid tunes, a release that never falters and even actually seems to gain momentum through track after track of original and intricate rock ’n’ roll.
