The Hunting of the President
Hillary Rodham Clinton’s reference to the vast right-wing conspiracy that sought for years to drag her husband from the White House by his ankles with his pants down gets a sort of wannabe Michael Moore treatment from directors Harry Thomason, a Clinton buddy who produced such TV hoo-ha as
Designing Women and
Evening Shade, and Nickolas Perry. This rather superficial but intermittently intriguing documentary has a sort of “hair-salon news as channeled through Oliver Stone” feel to it, as assorted talking heads (authors, witnesses, insiders, hearsayers, politicians and shadowy conspirators), news clips and other archival film footage make the point that the former president’s indiscretions, both personal and political, are a mere drop in the political muck bucket when compared with the deceptions and media manipulation perpetrated by his enemies.
