The future now

So you made a New Year’s resolution to start eating better. But you also promised yourself you’d dump the rest of those tech stocks today, and the market closes at 2 p.m. PST, not leaving a lot of time for lunch. You could chump out, hit up the nearest fast-food outlet and live with the 50-plus grams of fat you’ll be ingesting. Or you could be smart and hit the nearest General Nutrition Center, better known as GNC, for a meal-replacement bar designed specifically for your dietary needs. Trying to up the protein and cut down on your carbs? There’s a bar for you. Trying to stay in the 40-30-30 zone? Yep, that’s right, there’s a bar for you too. There are literally dozens of different varieties at GNC. Gobble your selection down and lunch is over, 10 minutes tops. And it’s even good for you. The best thing of all? GNC is everywhere. They said the future was gonna be like this. But who woulda believed them?
