The Falcon
Unicornography
Usually the words “featuring members of” make me cringe. There are just so many horrible so-called supergroups out there made up of members of great bands. Fortunately the Falcon—a side-project featuring guys from the Lawrence Arms, Alkaline Trio and Rise Against—happens to be awesome. Unicornography is 11 tracks of bouncy, gritty, sarcastic pop-punk goodness. It is exactly what you’d imagine from the combination of those three Chicago bands. Brendan Kelly from the Lawrence Arms does most of the singing here, so the net result sounds more like a Lawrence Arms album than anything else. But elements from each group do come through, making Unicornography a real gem for fans of all three. Don’t let the stigma of a supergroup scare you off.
