The fairer sex
Since 1987, the month of March has been all about the ladies—in the form of Women’s History Month—and this March, La Raza Galería Posada is All About Women. The exhibition about the fairer sex includes work by Los Angeles native Sonya Fe and Sacramento’s Simona Hernandez. Fe’s figurative paintings of women and girls paired with animals in jungle backdrops resemble those of Paul Gauguin’s, often even with a similar palette, but replacing the sexual tension of Gauguin’s pieces. Fe’s are more sensual, contemplative moments. There will be a reading and signing of books Fe has illustrated on Saturday, March 27, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. And there will be an artist talk on Wednesday, March 31 at 7 p.m.
